What are DOT Physicals?
If you drive a commercial motor vehicle or you would like to earn your commercial license, then under federal law you must receive regular physical examinations. These physicals are known as Department of Transportation Medical Examinations or “DOT physicals.” This system was put in place to ensure that all commercial drivers are physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy enough to safely navigate the road.
Here at St. Elizabeth Urgent Care in Dickinson, TX, our medical physicians and examiners are able to administer DOT physicals and prevent unfit drivers from being on the road.
What Is Involved In The DOT Physical?
Our medical physicians and examiners will ensure that each driver meets the physical and mental demands of their job and for which the medical card will be issued. They will also look at past and/or current medical conditions to see if they will impact the ability of the driver to handle the job. Once a driver receives a medical card, they are valid for up to 24 months.
The Physical Exam Consists Of:
- Vision Test
- Hearing Test
